If you are trying to work out a wedding entertainment budget, live singers can be one of the harder things to price from a quick Google. One act lists a package. Another asks you to enquire. A third gives a “from” price that changes once travel, timings or extra sets are added.
So here is the useful answer first: there is no single UK price for wedding singers. Cost usually depends on how many performers you are booking, where the wedding is, how long they are there, which part of the day they are covering and how bespoke the booking needs to be.
For The Toodle Pips, most wedding couples currently invest around £700 to £900, depending on timings, location and the style of live music they want. That is an indicative guide rather than a universal wedding-singer rate.
What affects the price of wedding singers?
1. How many singers are performing
A solo singer, duo, close-harmony trio and full band are very different bookings. More performers generally means more rehearsal, travel, equipment and performance cost.
The Toodle Pips are known as a close-harmony vocal trio, though some dates and bookings may also work as a duo or solo.
2. Which part of the wedding day you want covered
A short ceremony booking is different from singers being part of several points across the day. Live vocals can work during the ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast, first dance or early evening, and the price will reflect the amount of performance time and time on site.
If you are not sure where live music would have the most impact, our wedding singers page breaks down the different moments.
3. Travel and location
A nearby wedding is naturally different from a booking several hours away, particularly if an early setup or late finish means extra travel time or accommodation.
We are based in South Wales and perform across the UK when the booking works. You can also see our local wedding information for Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Gower, and Bristol and the South West.
4. Requests and bespoke arrangements
If you want a particular aisle song, first dance or meaningful family favourite, ask the act what is included. Learning or arranging a new song can involve extra rehearsal, especially for multi-part harmony where every voice needs its own line.
5. Equipment and setup
Ask whether PA equipment, microphones and background music between sets are included. A quote that looks cheaper at first can be less useful if you later discover the venue needs separate sound equipment.
What should you compare when looking at quotes?
Price matters, obviously. But two quotes are only comparable if they actually include the same thing.
- How many performers are included?
- How many live sets or songs?
- How long will the act be at the venue?
- Is travel included?
- Is a professional PA included?
- Can you request songs?
- Is music provided between live sets?
- Does the act coordinate timings with the venue?
And, crucially, listen to them. A polished price list cannot tell you whether you actually love the sound. Our Have a Listen page has live examples, and our reviews show what previous bookers have said.
Is live music worth it for a drinks reception?
For a lot of weddings, the drinks reception is one of the easiest places to make live music work well. Guests are mingling, photographs are happening and there can otherwise be a slightly strange lull between ceremony and meal.
Live singers can give that part of the day an identity without turning it into a formal concert. The best setup is usually present enough to create atmosphere, but relaxed enough that guests can still talk.
Do you need to know your exact wedding plan before asking for a quote?
No. A date, rough location and an idea of which part of the day you are considering is usually enough to start the conversation.
You do not need every timing finalised or every song chosen before enquiring. In fact, a good act should be able to help you work out what makes sense for the day you are planning.
